Beautiful Breton Chateau, sleeps 10. Close to the sea! | House in Quimperlé
5 Bedroom House in Quimperle, Quimperlé
Château de Québlen has five renovated bedrooms ready for you to stay (sleeping 10 people). We hope to have the whole house ready someday, but for now you will be staying in the west part (Côté Métairie) while the east side (Côté Terrace) waits its turn.
Nestled in 50 acres of ancient forest, it is a short drive (15 mins) from the beautiful beaches of Le Pouldu. The charming town of Quimperlé is a 5 minute drive away.
The space
Ground Floor:
Entrance Hall – a medieval entrance with stone floor and walls, and original wooden beams running across the ceiling.
Salon – an elegant sitting room with a marble fireplace and windows over-looking the garden.
Petit Salon - a cosy television room.
Kitchen – Light, spacious and well-equipped. A large dining table seats twelve people.
Cellar - a gravelled room off the kitchen with pantry shelves, which also serves as boiler room and store room.
Downstairs loo – located in the back hall, near the staircase.
First Floor:
Petite Chambre - a lovely twin bedroom overlooking the front lawn.
Chambre d’Olive - A double bedroom overlooking the front lawn.
Bathroom - A large Jack and Jill bathroom shared by chambre d’Olive and La Petite Ferme with freestanding bath and double sink unit.
La Petite Ferme - A double bedroom overlooking the front lawn.
Upstairs loo - located along the main corridor
Shower Room - A comfortable shower room for your convenience.
La Lingerie - a twin bedroom, which also serves as the utility room with linen press, washing machine and tumble dryer.
Bathroom - A Jack and Jill bathroom between the lingerie and chambre de l’évêque, with bath and loo.
Chambre de L'Évêque - A large medieval double bedroom, accessible via the main spiral staircase.
Outside:
Queblen is set in 40 acres of private land. The house is surrounded by a garden of lawns, mature trees and shrubs, and framed by an old 16th century farmhouse (la métairie) and dovecote (le pigeonnier). A croquet set, table tennis table, and BBQ are available for your enjoyment. A outside dining table with umbrella seats 10 people.
Over the hedge (separate from the main house) lives our friendly cousin.
Restoration:
Although the house has been in our family for hundreds of years, it has not been continuously lived in for the past 50 years. Almost all the rooms were in need of work, but we have had to focus on the western end (côté métairie) for now. You will be staying in this part of the house, and won’t have access to the eastern end (côté terrace). To learn more about the work we have completed, please visit our website.
Other things to note
Babes in arms and children over 6 years old are very welcome. However, Québlen is an old home with some uneven floors and numerous small and large stairways. There is also an unfenced terrace in the garden. Therefore, we do not routinely accept children below this age.
All children should be supervised. For your safety, all guests should remain in the renovated part of the house.

Surfing - The KLOAR surf school is 15 minutes from the house. Paddle boarding also available.
Walking - For the walking enthusiasts, the famous GR34 trail travels 2000km along the Breton Coast. It was once a path that allowed customs officers to travel along the coast to prevent smuggling; today it is a peaceful hiking trail celebrated for its beauty. These routes begin a short walk away from the house in neighbouring Lothea.
Cycling - This is excellent cycling country, reasonably flat and, with the “Espace VTT Cornouaille” circuits, the surrounding countryside can be easily explored. Bicycles can be delivered directly to Québlen using www.ouibike.net

Golf - The stunning golf courses of Golf de Cornouaille and Golf de Ploemeur Ocean are within easy reach of the house (both are 35 mins drive away).
Horse Riding - The best way to explore the Forêt de Carnoët which surrounds Québlen is perhaps on horse back. 5 minutes drive from Québlen, at the Centre d'Équestre de Lothéa, you will be able to do just that.
