Petite chateau is positioned just off the main coast road between carcassonne and narbonne with plenty of parking space to the front and back of the house. From the house it is a short walk from a well stocked supermarket a bar , bakers post office and the main mairie square. There is a newsagent, pharmacy two restaurants and a sandwich cafe. For anyone who likes wine there are a couple of wine caves in the village. Capendu has its own public indoor swimming pool. Into the house that has been newly renovated and completely refurbished throughout, combining some of the old original features such as the front entrance doors, windows and shutters and vaulted downstairs ceilings. The most interesting feature being the wooden spiral staircase leading up through a turret onto the beautiful roof terrace. The location of the house is an ideal base for exploring what the languedoc region has to offer. You have walking in the hills and vineyards the canal du midi 2km away medieval city of carcassonne and numerous abbeys and castles dotted about. There are nearby swimming lakes with man made beaches and water sports and the beaches of the mediterranean are within an hours drive away. The nearby cities of narbonne montpellier bezier and toulouse are easily reached by a short drive. This area has a good climate for outdoor activities such as cycling, fishing, tennis and golfing. Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Capendu in the Petit Chateau. The house was extremely clean, beds were comfortable and kitchen well equipped. Loved having the dishwasher! Andy was great to deal with and although we had a problem with the hot water he worked hard to resolve it quickly. Capendu was a great base to explore Carcassonne and the surrounding area.
