This Grade II listed, one-bedroomed cottage in the heart of the village of Blockley is a perfect Cotswolds escape for couples. The 5-star, luxury cottage has been furnished to an exceptionally high standard and guests will really appreciate the character features and attention to detail. Guests looking for a romanic trip away or a base from which to explore the Cotswolds will not be disappointed! The cottage has a rich history and the building itself dates back to the 18th century. Over the years, it has functioned as a stables for horses, the village library, Blockley Nursery School and most recently, the local village cafe & shop. The recent extensive renovations have done a fantastic job to restore many of the original features and guests will really appreciate the restored hard wooden flooring, exposed Cotswold stonework, original windows and the window seating. The front door opens in to a warm and welcoming open-plan living area with a large and luxurious three-seater sofa accompanied by two arm chairs, a coffee table, and a basket full of warm blankets so guests can stay extra snug! The wrought-iron and hardwood table comfortably seats up to four people for dining. This kitchen area looks onto the beautiful grounds of the Norman church yard next door and comes well-equipped with a Belfast sink, oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine, kettle and toaster, as well as all of the necessities such as tableware and cooking accessories. Down the hallway, the cottage opens up into the large bedroom which comprises a king-sized bed with Egyptian cotton sheets and hotel-style duvet and pillows perfect for a comfortable night's sleep. This bedroom also benefits from a floor-to-ceiling fitted wardrobe, including a full length mirror, a chest of draws, bedside cabinets and lamps, and a quirky chair, ideal for a spot of reading. The bathroom can be accessed from either the bedroom or the main living area and comprises a large walk-in shower, victorian-style sink and toilet and underfloor heating. There is also a sofa-bed available which allows the property to sleep up to four people on certain occasions. This full-sized double sofa-bed is available on request - please ask us before booking. The cottage boasts fast, fibre-optic Wi-Fi and a smart TV accompanied with a Netflix account and all passwords left for optimal use by our guests. There are also a selection of board games for guests to enjoy during an evening or rainy day too. Blockley is a beautiful Cotswolds village and the property is set right in heart of it. The village shop and cafe is directly opposite and serves high quality teas, coffees, breakfasts and lunches. There are two friendly, local pubs in village, within easy walking distance of the front door. The picturesque village and its church are frequently used as filming locations for popular films and TV series such as 'Father Brown'. Whilst there is no designated parking area, parking in the village is free of charge all year round and there are always spaces available in front of and nearby the property.
