Summary: We rented this lodge in Sainte-Marie for a week and it was a terrible experience. The blinds were broken, leaving the house over 95F with no AC or fans. The owners ignored our repair requests; only after days of discomfort did they buy one portable AC unit, forcing us to spend over 1,500 on extra fans and units.The house was dirty, full of bugs, and lacked wardrobes or dressers—our clothes were on the floor, constantly dirty or wet from leaking showers. The furniture was mismatched, uncomfortable, and there was no sofa or proper sitting area, just chairs around a table. Basic essentials like toilet paper, soap, or shampoo were not provided, which is unacceptable for a rental at this price.The owners were dismissive and rude, insisting, “This is the way it is done in France.” For the cost, this was one of the worst rental experiences we’ve ever had—completely unsuitable for Americans or international travelers expecting comfort and hospitality.
