Maison Minervois in summer is for sun lovers who like to be out by the pool but be in peace in quiet.
Crickets and birdsong are far more likely to be your background sounds than the odd car that makes its way past this old and beautiful wine village making some of the finest wine in the area courtesy of the Chateau Agel vineyards that are overlooked by the property. The cave of the Chateau (sales at a specially arranged discount just ask Matt!) is just a one minute walk through a gap in their hedge opposite the villa! If you like your wines you'll be very happy indeed as they bottle a high end range!
The region is simply a hidden gem. Long peaceful undulating trails abound making it a joy for runners and mountain bikers alike but also for those who like to pack a picnic and set off for a lovely long walk with lots of high vantage points and some wonderful views.
Languedoc is an ever popular region of France sitting sunnily in the South West corner of the country where the border with Spain meets the Mediterranean. The Canal de Midi runs right through the area and at its nearest point is just a few km away from the villa making lovely days out by the waters edge very easy and even hiring a craft from Capestang or any of the many canal centres dotted along its route.
In the village of Agel itself all is peace and tranquility. The nearest small shops are 2km away in the neighboring village of Aigues Vives or 4km in the delightful Bize Minervois so a car is essential but it would work as a holiday with just bikes to get around with if you wanted to fly hire and taxi! The drive from UK is a full day but its a very pleasant one with the Millau Bridge (Sir Norman Foster) one of the many highlights en route. Paris is easily avoided and although I like to break the trip overnight in Orleans it is very doable in one day if you plan your tunnel or ferries accordingly! Two bedrooms sleeping up to six and all ready for you to make your reservation on our site!
