Our 33m2 apartment is located in the lively Krutenau district, a 5-minute walk from the cathedral and Little France. There are many restaurants and bars nearby. The accommodation is ideal for enjoying Strasbourg on foot. Bakeries, supermarkets, butchers, cheese makers and wine merchants are 100m away. We will be happy to provide you with all our good addresses so that you can have a good time in this very popular district of Strasbourg. Composed of a bedroom with a lounge area, the apartment has a double bed and a sofa bed. The kitchen area is separate with a worktop, electric hob, microwave, toaster and coffee machine (Dolce Gusto). Summary: The property is very central with minutes to restaurants and shops. It was clean and the owner was very responsive. However, my lack of research let me down as I didn’t realize this apartment was on the third floor of an old building in a pedestrian only area.As two women of 70 years of age, it was more than daunting that the uber driver was confused on where to drop us off and wheeling suitcases in the dark trying to find the entrance was concerning, but nothing compared to the huge sinking feeling we experienced when we realized the only way up to the apartment was a set of old winding wooden stairs. Someone watching us dragging our cases up the stairs and then down at the end of the stay would have been impressed or bent double with laughter.Something to note, there are two lockboxes on the wall and the right one is almost above your head. There were a couple of folding chairs in the apartment which we placed outside the bathroom and between the kitchen and living/bedroom to remind us of the step up or down and prevent falling especially at night. The almost foot up to the shower would have been less awkward if there was a bar or something to hold on to and the old wiring and lack of outlets was challenging.In closing, my recommendation is that this is a perfect place for young adventurers but I would advise older travelers to find alternative accommodation. The noise from the bar downstairs was not too bad and to be expected if you want to be central.
